Monte David Moore, 80, passed away Monday, June 17, 2013, in a Missoula hospital.
He was born in North Holly-wood, Calif., on Dec. 28, 1932, to Monte D. and Margaret (Sherril) Moore. Monte was raised and educated in the Bay Area and graduated from San Leandro High School. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and had a 35-year career with Caterpillar Equipment, retiring from a management position.
On May 30, 1987, Monte married Merlena K. McGill in San Lorenzo, Calif., and they purchased a home in Butte in 1998. He enjoyed riding his Harley and RVing. He and Merlena loved their pets and were intimately involved in the Husky rescue in 2008. They enjoyed winter in California and have made their permanent home in Butte since 2006.
Monte was preceded in death by his parents as well as a sister, Margaret.
Survivors include his wife, Merlena Moore of Butte; daughter and son-in-law, Katherine and John Simonetti and their children, Chiara and Giancarlo Simonetti of Burlingame, Calif.; Merlena's daughter, SaDonna Schneider and her son, Nicholas Schneider of Hayward, Calif.; Merlena's son, Floyd A. Birdsell Jr. and his son, Kade A. Birdsell of Carson City, Nev.; and a brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Judy Moore of Washington State.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Wayrynen-Richards Funeral Home with the Rev. Mr. Doug Cameron officiating.
His remains will then be forwarded to Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home in Hayward, Calif., for services and interment.
