A funeral mass was celebrated at 7 pm Thursday in the Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home in Oakland, Calif. Entombment will be held Monday in Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, Calif.
Mr. Burns, a Bibb County native, lived in Hayward for the past twenty years. He was a graduate of Lowndes County High School in Valdosta and the University of California in Los Angeles. He was the Vice-President of Eureka Federal Saving Bank in San Mateo, California and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1968.
Survivors include his parents: Henry C. Burns Jr. & Audrey L Burns of Macon; two sisters, Bettie Fay Burns Allen of Tifton and Hilda Chaplin Nunez of Fernandina Beach, Florida; two half sisters, Joella S. Gilmore of Oxford, Ala., and Jean S. Adams of Macon.
