Porfirio Martinez, age 62 of Breckenridge, died Friday, September 18, 2009 at Hendrick Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, September 21st, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Jerome Jayasuriya officiating. Burial will follow in the Breckenridge Cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Rosary will be held Sunday evening, September 20th, from 6 to 7 p.m.

Porfirio Martinez was born on September 15, 1947 in Sabinas Hidalgo, Neuvo Leon, Mexico, where he grew up and attended schools. Porfirio married Reynalda Rios on June 16, 1966 in Villa de Fuente, Coahuila, Mexico. They moved to the United States in 1972 and later to Breckenridge in 1978. Porfirio was a carpenter and worked in construction most of his life. He enjoyed fishing and was also a talented musician, playing both the accordion and guitar. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Porfirio was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Santos Martinez; three sisters, Brigida Escobedo, Antonia Lerma and Maria Paula Duran; and one granddaughter, Marissa Julia Castillo.
