"In Terrell, Texas, on Saturday morning, Oct. 25, 1884, after a lingering illness, Mr. A. E. Clemmons, Jr. died.

Egan Clemmons, as he was familiarly known, was raised in this city. He was a son of Rev. A. E. Clemmons, D.D., a prominent minister of the Baptist Church, and for many years pastor of the Church in this place. Eagan reached manhood and for a number of years engaged in mercantile business here. He moved to Terrell about a year ago, and had succeeded in establishing a good business in that place. He was honest and upright in all his dealings and business relations; a dutiful son, affectionate brother, fond and devoted businessman, a true and faithful friend, and a good citizen.

His remains were brought here and buried on
Sunday afternoon, attended by a large number of mourning friends.

He leaves a loving and devoted wife and two children to mourn his death, to whom, together with the bereaved parents and family, the sympathies of the entire community are extended."
