Carl Donaldson Schultz, attorney at law, was born in Washington, Pa., the son of Otto G. Schultz and Anna M. (Thompson) Schultz. He graduated from Shady Side Academy of Pittsburgh in 1903 and received an A.B. degree from Washington and Jefferson college in 1907. He studied law under Judge J. Franklin Taylor of Washington, Pa, was admitted to the bar in 1911, and practiced law for fourteen years. In 1908, he married Sarah Virginia Taylor, the eldest daughter of Hon. J Franklin and Annie Woodward ( Miller) Taylor of Washington, Pa. Carl and Virginia Schultz had four sons; J. Franklin Taylor, Carl Donaldson (jr.), William Thompson, and James Taylor Schultz.
Carl D. Schultz later became a senior sales executive, residing in Morristown and Chester Township,Nj until his death in 1963.
