Elva Irene Montgomery, 99, Shelbina, died Thursday, November 4, 2004, at the Salt River Nursing Home in Shelbina.

She was born in Shelbyville, Mo. on July 4, 1905, the daughter of Joseph William and Virgie Raplee Thompson. She married Merton M. Montgomery on September 28, 1932. He died in 1959.

Survivors include one son, James William "Bill" Montgomery, Dodge City, Kan.; one grandson, James Philip Montgomery; and one great granddaughter, Marie Irene Montgomery.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her twin brother, Elmer Thompson and one sister, Flossie Bell Glenn.

Mrs. Montgomery was a member of the Duncan Church in Hagers Grove.

Funeral services were Monday, November 8, at 1:00 p.m. at Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina with Jim Bilbro officiating. Burial was in Hagers Grove Cemetery at Hagers Grove.

Visitation was on Sunday, November 7.
