Memorial services for Douglas Clay Haynes, 89, Tyler, are scheduled for 4 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2013, at Boren-Conner Funeral Home and Covenant Cremations, Bullard.

Mr. Haynes died April 17, 2013.

He was born April 11, 1924, in Brownville, Pa.

As a husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Mr. Haynes set the example of a family patriarch and will be sorely missed by all. He served 25 years of faithful and honorable service to the United States Air Force and Tactical Air Command. Retired Senior Master Sgt. Haynes was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Following is a quote from a commanding officer concerning Sgt. Haynes: "His wealth of experience as a first sergeant is his greatest strength; however, he is also exceptionally strong in command sense, intelligence, aggressiveness and capacity for hard work."

He is survived by his wife, Lonnie Delena Haynes; sons, James Douglas Clay Haynes and Lonnie Aubon Haynes; daughter, Zella Delena Haynes; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Claude Haynes, Naples, Fla.; and sisters, Maude Barr, Kingsport, Tenn., and Dolores Gott and husband, Glenn Gott, Kingsport, Tenn.
