Rev. Albern N. Balsley was born in the Town of Richland, March 22, 1831. He was the son of Nicholas Balsley who came from Holland. He was converted as a young man and had devout spiritual help from a favorite sister, Celestine, wife of Rev. J.I. Buell.
In 1856 at the age of twenty-five, Rev. Balsley married Miss Mary Trumbull, a young lady who became a helpful in the work to which her husband was consecrated.
His death came July 16, 1901 and removed from this life a spirit that had left its stamp of goodness in many souls.
As a tribute to one of God's best neighbors, the people of his home parish have named the united May and Carr districts the Balsley district. Rev. Balsley left three daughter to mourn his passing: Mrs. W. W. Jones of San Fernando, California: Mrs. Grant Farrington, Pulaski, N. Y.; and Mrs William H. Wheeler, also of Pulaski.
