He served in the U.S. Army in the 1st Cavalry Division in Fort Hood, Texas. He was in Desert Shield/Desert Storm in the Apache Helicopters as a weapons technician. He received the Southwest Asia Service Medal with two Bronze Stars. He enjoyed working with gems and attending gemology shows. He enjoyed people, horses, dogs and open spaces.
Mr. Burgess is survived by his parents, Carol Harvey and Philip Burgess of Oceanside; brother and sister-in-law Terrence Douglas and Tracey Burgess of Herington, Kan.; and sister and brother-in-law Tammy Lea and Jesse Rymer of Wichita Fall, Texas.
Interment will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006, at Pleasantview Cemetery in St. Ignatius, Mont.
