In 1958, Genevieve married Edward Dorsey Ricketts, an airline pilot, in Honolulu. Ed had three sons, Ricky, Jason, and Dennis, with his first wife, Dorothy, who died in 1951. Genevieve and Ed had one son, Thomas (Tommy.) They lived in Livermore, California, where Ed died in 1990.
After retiring, Genevieve spent a great deal of time in Ukiah with her beloved mother-in-law, Ila Josephine Moore, and took care of Illa in her old age. Genevieve also volunteered in her local hospital charity thrift shop, enjoyed group bus trips to Reno, and enjoyed spending time with her son and other relatives. In 1997, she received an award for distinguished service to the Livermore Chapter of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Genevieve died at the age of 82, on October 9, 2003. She is buried in the IOOF Memory Gardens Cemetery in Livermore, near Ed and his first wife.
