He was born on Aug. 15, 1917 in Sandusky, and was a 1936 graduate of Sandusky High School.
He was employed as a carpenter for the contractors J.C. Feick, Ed Feick, and John Feick for many years.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 74 years, Beatrice (Jacalone) Poggiali; daughters, Jackie (Larry Kaufman) Powell, and Mary Ann Poggiali; sons, Joe (Joanne) Poggiali, Jim (Rochelle) Poggiali, Tom (Fran) Poggiali, Michael (Lynn) Poggiali, and Jeff (Betsy) Poggiali; grandchildren, Chris Poggiali, Todd Poggiali, Scott Poggiali, Jude Poggiali, Nick Poggiali, Vince Poggiali, Carrie Bischoff, Shaun Powell, and Deana Harvey; fourteen great-grandchildren; and a sister, Stella Kevesdy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Giacomina (Marcucci) Poggiali; brothers, Vergil Poggiali and John Poggiali; sisters, Mary Fox, Minnie Maschari, and Mildred Poggiali.
There will be no visitation. A private family service will take place in Calvary Cemetery. Rev. Jason Kahle will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice Service, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870, or to Care and Share, 237 W. Washington Row, Sandusky, OH 44870.
