A. B. LYON DIES AT THE HOME OF BROTHER IN CHETOPA WEDNESDAY
A. B. Lyon, retired business man of Chetopa, died at his home in Chetopa early Wednesday morning at the age of 77. He had been in failing health the past two years but had been able to be up and about the house until the past several weeks.
Funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon at three o'clock, with Rev. Cecil M. Orr officiating and burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery under the direction of the Fritz Funeral Home. The body will lie in state at the funeral home until Friday morning when it will be taken home.
Albert Brownell Lyon was born in Rantoul, Ill, September 22, 1866, the third son of Stephen and Mary Cornelia Lyon. At the age of three he came to Chetopa with his parents and at the age of seventeen he went to St. Louis and was associated for several years with the Wasbash railroad. Later he went to Washington, D.C., and until 1932 he was secretary and treasurer of the Hydraulic Press Brick Co.
In 1920 he was married to Mrs. Rosanna Caldwell, who passed away in 1928. In October, 1932, he came to Chetopa to make his home with his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. D. Lyon.
Survivors are one sister, Mrs. R. L. von Trebra, his brother, George, and a nephew, Dr. John Lyon, od Denver, Colorado.
