She was born December 1, 1929 in Chetopa, Kansas to Juan Newton and Artie Ledora (Ellis) Corn. As a young girl she grew up in Chetopa and was a 1947 graduate of Chetopa High School. She worked as secretary at Rogers State College in Claremore in the International Student Office and later at Rogers County Courthouse until retiring.
She attended the Sageeyah Baptist Church in Claremore. Wanda's hobbies included sewing, quilting, painting, beading and crocheting. She loved to play Scrabble and Mario Bros.
She married Melvin Sharp on February 22, 1950 in Miami, Oklahoma. They later divorced. He preceded her in death on May 10, 1999.
Survivors include: Two Daughters – Deborah Medlock and husband, Gary Claremore, OK Melinda Cochran and husband, Rick Chelsea, OK Three Grandchildren - Nickolas Cochran, Dayne and Derek Medlock One Great-Granddaughter. Two Sisters – Julia Luznicky Commerce, OK Winona Bates Erie, KS
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lydia Ratzlaff and Carol Kerns; and two sons, Loren and Darrell Sharp.
