OBIT: Bradley D. Wankel Sr., 74, of Chapin, passed away Friday evening, June 14, 2013, at his farm, north of Jacksonville.
He was born Nov. 23, 1938, in Jacksonville, the son of Lloyd and Eula Belle Wankel. He married Patricia Stout on Dec. 7, 1968, and she survives. He is also survived by two sons, Michael (wife, Lori) Wankel of Jacksonville and Bradley (wife, Brandy) Wankel Jr. of Jackson, Tenn.; three daughters, Debbie (husband, Greg) Hughes of Arenzville and Deanna Sanders and Brandy Wankel (companion, Garrett Waggener), both of Jacksonville; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Janie Barfield and Frances Suiter, both of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Richard Wankel (surviving wife, Doris of Concord); and two sisters, Grace Rexroat and Marjorie Turner. Mr. Wankel had worked as a truck driver and farmer. He was a member of the Prairie Land Heritage Museum. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, farming, antique tractors and sprint car races. He was a pet lover and enjoyed his dogs very much. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville, with burial at Liberty Cemetery, west of Jacksonville. The family will meet friends from 12-2 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to PAWS or Prairie Land Heritage Museum. Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com.
