Maryville, Illinois - William "Bill" Weiss, 87, of Maryville, Illinois, was born April 12, 1934, in Highland, Illinois. He died January 16, 2022, at Meridian Village, Glen Carbon, Illinois.
He graduated from Collinsville Township High School in 1952. Bill studied at SIU Edwardsville and the University of Maryland Pentagon Center. He also studied Aeronautical engineering at Northrop Institute of Technology. He served in the United States Air Force for eight years and served as a Staff Sergeant.
Bill was a Flight Testing Tech at McDonnell Douglas/Boeing for 45 years. He owned and operated Weiss Tax Service for many years as well.
He was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, the Collinsville Knights of Columbus #1712; life time member of the VFW of Collinsville; and the Aerospace Local Lodge 837.
Bill enjoyed traveling, model trains, fishing and bingo.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Vera (Haenny) and Orel Weiss; brother-in-law, Frank Burrelsman; former wife, Sylvia Stieber Weiss; and step-son, Emery Allen Wilson, Jr.
Surviving are his wife, Rosemary Wilson Weiss; children: Timothy (Cheryl) Weiss and Cynthia Weiss; step-children: Carlyn ( Bill) Janssen, Mary Emily (Bob) Slate, Robert (Lynda) Wilson, and Eric (Cheryl) Wilson; 24 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Burrelsman; brother, Gary (Mary Ann) Weiss; and former wife and mother of his children, Dorothy (Hess) Tanner.
A private family visitation and funeral mass will be held at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Fr. John Beveridge officiating. Burial will take place at St. Adalbert Cemetery, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
