Funeral services for former Octavia resident Sylvia Nichols, 96, China Spring, Texas, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at Octavia Baptist Church in Octavia with Bro. Ray Chitwood and Bro. Ed Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Octavia Cemetery under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.
Nichols died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at Whitney. She was born Sept. 23, 1913, in Langley, Ark., to the late Nevada Linville and the late Laura Rosetta Jones Linville. She was united in marriage to Mac Nichols. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nevada and Laura Linville; her husband, Mac Nichols; a daughter, Bonnie Rhodes; brothers, Buiel Linville, Denver Linville; and a grandson, Gary Dewitt.
Survivors include her sons, Tommy Nichols of Dallas, Texas and Jerry Nichols of Honobia; daughter, Shirley Dewitt of China Spring, Texas; brother, Boise Linville of Winnie, Texas; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
