Philip Friedrich BENDER born 17 April 1874 in Kassel, Glueckstal, Odessa, South Russia was the son of Friedrich Johann BENDER and Katherina WANNER.

Philip along with his parents and 5 siblings immigrated to America via the Port of Hamburg, Germany aboard the SS "Rugia" and arrived at the Port of New York, New York on the 28th April 1885.

Philip married Christina P BERTSCH on the 10th January 1898 in Hutchinson County, South Dakota. The couple was blessed with no less than 14 children.
