"Again has the death angel entered our midst and taken from us an esteemed friend, wife and mother in the person of Mrs. Nelson Walbridge, who passed from this life on Wednesday, Jan 16, 1889 to her heavenly home. A husband and three children are left to mourn her untimely death. The funeral occurred on Friday at her home; services conducted by Rev. William Thomas who based his remarks on the passage of Scripture - "come unto me all ye that are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest." As we looked upon the face of the sleeper it seemed hard to realize that she was dead. Never had she looked more lovely. In death her face wore such a peaceful expression that we felt that she had indeed entered into rest - heavenly rest. She was taken to West Bellmont for burial where her father, mother and four sisters are buried.
She was an active member of the M.E. Church of which she had long been a member. At the time of her death she was superintendent of the Sabbath School, also vice president of the WCTU of our town. Her loss will be long felt in our community, and the memory of her lovely Christian character and amiable disposition will long live in our hearts."
