On August 28, 2003 Laura Bell Cook Olsen, 75, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, peacefully finished her mission on earth. She was surrounded by her family.

Laura was born March 24, 1928 in Orem, UT to Rulon Francis and Katherine Bell Cook, the first of five children. She married her sweetheart, Robert B. Olsen, Aug 30, 1948 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Laura was reared in Orem, graduating from Lincoln High School, and was later named the first Miss Orem, 1946. She settled with her husband in south Orem on the family fruit farm. She loved the farm, she loved being a wife and mother, and she loved her Father in Heaven. Laura's life was filled with service to those around her, and one of her greatest joys in later life was working several years with her sweetheart as a temple ordinance worker in the Mt. Timpanogos LDS Temple. They were also privileged to spend a year serving as ordinance workers in the Washington D.C. Temple. Laura and Bob enjoyed traveling the world together, whether in their travel trailer or chasing through Europe and the Middle East with their friend, Lamar Berrett. They were happy, as long as they were together.

The hallmark of Laura's life was her faith in God, and an unbounded ability to love all those around her and make them feel that they were important in her life. There was no saying anything bad about anyone while in her presence, and if anything negative did slip out, she would immediately counter with something loving and good. It is not an exaggeration to say that everyone who knew her loved her. Her family looks forward to the opportunity of being with her again.

Laura was preceded in death by her infant son, Robert Larry; brother, Robert F. Cook; brother-in-law, David A. Palmer; and parents. She is survived by her eternal companion, Robert B. Olsen; children, Laura Lee Anderson (Kirk), Sharleen Thompson (Duff), Rick Olsen (Susan), David Olsen (Nancy), Mark Olsen (Bridgette), Heidi Barker (Brian); adopted daughter, Laura Osuna; together with 31 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Norma (Clarence) Montgomery, Gayle Palmer, Shari (Kay) Flygare.

Services Wed. Sept 3, 2003, 11 a.m. Sharon LDS 5th Ward Chapel, 545 S. 800 E, Orem, UT. Friends may call Tues. 6-8 p.m. Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 S. State St, Orem and Wed. 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the chapel. Interment, Orem City Cemetery.
