William married Mary Riggs Poppleton on August 10, 1903. In 1921, the family moved to a farm just north of Smithfield, Utah. Known as one of the best farmers in the area, he also hauled milk for the Sego Milk Company at Richmond, Utah. He drove the first covered school wagon in the area and during the winter months, it was equipped with runners and a heating stove. His love for horses won him and Mary first place in the Fourth of July parade in Logan, Utah. William was also a sportsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, baseball and, he loved to play the harmonica.
Punctuality, honesty, and helping those in need was his way of life. William died February 8, 1954 and is buried in the Wellsville cemetery. Mary died May 21, 1958 and is buried in the Wellsville cemetery as well.
