C. Wilson Viar, III of Memphis, born on the Fifth of July, 1960, passed away June 14th at his home of heart failure. Mr. Viar was a practicing Senior Care Provider and was finishing his dissertation in anticipation of receiving his Ph.D. degree in Literature, with an emphasis in African American Studies, from the University of Memphis where he had earlier completed his Masters in English. After receiving Bachelor of Arts Degrees in English, Sociology, and Psychology from the University of Montana in Missoula, he attended Willamette School of Law in Salem, Oregon. Mr. Viar is survived by his parents Mrs. Jerry D. Thomas and C. Wilson Viar, Jr. and wife Helen P. Viar; a brother, Barton D. Viar; and step-sister Mrs. Jeffrey S. Maples (Helen) and step-brother, Charles B. Ivey, Jr. (Stephanie). He was a cousin to George Lee Viar. His hobbies were reading and the University of Tennessee Volunteers and weekly get together's at The Barksdale Restaurant. Mr. Viar requested that he not burden anyone with any sort of formal service or visitation. That everyone who chooses to remember him do so in their own personal and private way. Those who want to remember Mr. Viar with a donation may do so either to the University of Memphis General Scholarship Fund, the Memphis Church Health Center or the donor's favorite charity or cause.
