Gene Dwayne Hicks Sr., 80, went to be with the Lord Thursday, June 13, 2013. Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Gene was born Feb. 10, 1933, in Fort Worth. He spent his childhood in River Oaks and joined the Navy in 1951. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. Survivors: Wife, Kathy Hicks; son, Chris Vaughan and wife, Jami; daughters, Helen Haack and husband, Gary, and Monica Elbers and husband, Scott; grandchildren, Joseph Hicks, Jesse Vaughan and Hailey Haack; great-grandchild, Victor Hicks; and numerous other family and friends.
