Harold worked for Safeway for 10 years until 1987 when he started his own commercial mowing business-Sperling Tractor Mowing. He owned and operated Sperling Tractor for 25 years.
He was the most dedicated and faithful Texas Longhorn fan and usually could be found especially in the fall and winter watching any UT game on the Longhorn Network. He also enjoyed watching documentaries on the History & Military Channel.
Over the years he enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting & fishing with his boys & spending time out in the country taking care of his cattle or in the field on a tractor mowing or baling hay.
His most recent passion was being a Papa to his 2 grandsons. He took an active role in their daily lives and could often be found taking them to school or picking them up, having special ‘grandparent' breakfasts with them at school or in the stands watching them play baseball.
Harold is preceded in death by his father, Donald Eugene Sperling, Sr. and grandparents, Frank & Nora Sperling and W.W. & Sarah Monk.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sandy Sperling of Rockwall, sons Brett & Brad Sperling of Rockwall, grandsons Brady & Mason Sperling of Royse City. He is also survived by his mother, Iva Thrash, brothers Donald Sperling and wife, Brenda, and Greg Thrash and wife, Laura, sisters Linda Jones & husband Spencer and Maureen Armstrong along with numerous nieces, nephews, family & friends.
