Sister M. Anne Connelly, O.P. 74, (formerly Sister Mary Agnese, O.P.) died recently at her motherhouse infirmary, Sparkill, Rockland County, New York after a short battle with cancer. Sister M. Anne Connelly, formerly Elizabeth Connelly, was the daughter of the late John Thomas Connelly and Agnes Kennedy Connelly of 318 Oneida Street, Fulton. She entered the Dominican Congregation of Our Lady of the Rosary, Sparkill, February 02, 1936. She just celebrated her 52nd year as a Dominican Sister. She came to this Diocese in 1974 and for the past eleven years had been associated with the chaplaincy teams of Grouse-Irving Memorial Hospital, Syracuse, and Upstate Medical Center (SUNY Health Science Center) Syracuse. Sister was in charge of the cancer floor and dealt with the terminally ill. Prior to coming to this Diocese, Sister Anne spent 39 years in the educational field mainly teaching in schools in and around New York City, also in Saint Louis,
Missouri. Sister also taught music classes and gave piano lessons. She was missioned at Holy Family School in Fulton from 1968-1970. She is survived by two sisters, Therese Connelly Young, Syracuse, and Rita Connelly Hamilton, Liverpool, one niece, two nephews. Calling hours were at the Dominican Motherhouse, Sparkill, on February 15th. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial was held February 16th. Burial was made in Saint Agnes Cemetery at Sparkill, Rockland County.
