Obituary
Clinton D. "Clint" Bland, a lifelong harbor resident died Saturday, November 13, 2010 at Mark Reed Hospital in McCleary. He was 92. Clint was born October 9, 1918 in McCleary to Marion and Ellen (Langenbach) Bland. He was one of fourteen kids in the Bland household. He grew up and attended school in McCleary.

Clint married Marjorie Ames at her parents Oakville home on August 31, 1940. She survives him at the family home in Oakville. Clint was working to support his young family when he was drafted to serve in the Army Infantry in WWII. He served in combat with honor and distinction in Rhineland and Central Europe before being honorably discharged and returning home to resume his work in the local mill. He worked at the McCleary mill (Simpson) and Acme Door in Hoquiam.

Clint enjoyed the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He got a kick out of video taping friends, family and pretty much anyone or anything that piqued his interest. He also enjoyed watching hummingbirds and spending time with children. According to his family, Clint enjoyed good jokes and pranks, especially if he was the one telling or doing them.

He is loved and will be dearly missed. In addition to his wife, Marjorie, Clint is survived by his daughter, Betty Jo Morey, Oakville, son Dale Bland Sr., Oakville, son David Bland, Oakville, daughter, Wilma Bland, Aberdeen, daughter, Kathleen Wheeler, Oakville, fifteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, thirteen brothers and sisters and his daughter, Patricia who died in 2004.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Oakville Volunteer Department or a charity of your choice.

NOTE: there is a flaw on the birth year of the military marker (it should be 1918 rather than 1913 as shown). They messed up and the funeral home never got a corrected one before they went out of business and whoever took it upon themselves to install it never consulted the death certificate, Dad's military record, or any of our immediate family...( information from Wilma Bland)
