OLDEST RESIDENT OF ARCOLA DIES
Arcola, Ill. — Mrs. Ellen Hood, 94, Arcola's oldest resident, died Thursday at her home following two weeks' illness resulting from a broken hip.
Funeral services will be held at the family home at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon, with Rev. C. K. Dillman in charge. Burial will be in the Arcola cemetery.
Mrs. Hood, as Frances Ellen Snyder, was born in Coles county, southeast of Arcola, Feb. 19, 1850, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Snyder. She was married to Edward Cornelius Hood Oct. 30, 1870.
Survivors include a son, Fred, a Great Lakes steamer captain, who makes his home in Arcola in the winter; two daughters, Mrs. Rosa Eckman of Decatur and Miss Cora Hood of Arcola, and a sister, Mrs. Minnie I. Watson of Denver, Colo.
