NORTH TRURO, Dec. 10 William Parker Paine, 73, who retired recently after 33 years service in the old United States Life Saving Service and Coast Guard, died at his home here today.
During most of his career with the Coast Guard he served at the Cuttyhunk and Highland stations, being a keeper at the latter. He had directed many rescues and assisted at shipwrecks when the breeches buoy was used. After his retirement Capt. Paine gained considerable recognition as a cabinetmaker. He leaves a wife and a brother, Jesse Paine, of Provincetown.
