HONORABLE C.H. ALEXANDER
Fell Dead on the Street in Front of the State House.

Jackson, Miss., May 15—A dramatic finale came to a stormy scene in the state Democrat convention this afternoon, when C.H. Alexander, candidate before the caucus of 1910, for the United States Senate candidate before the people for the same office and defeated by Vardaman, prospective candidate for governor, and just elected one of the delegates from the state-at-large,dropped dead in front of the state house at 5:35.
Mr. Alexander had been the focal point of a stormy and dramatic scene in the session. The excitement was too much for him. Outwardly calm, but inwardly laboring under intense excitement, he was leaving the state house and crumpled up on the street crossing and was dead by the time aid could reach him.

It started when Mr. Alexander, who was on the floor of the convention as a delegate from Hinds county, offered a sarcastic resolution, which was a shot at Senator-elect Vardaman.
