Preacher, College President: He was born in Orange County, Virginia the son of Robert Preston Cave and Sarah Franes Linday. From 1861 to 1865, he served in the Confederate Army, under the command of both "Stonewall" Jackson and Robert E. Lee. After the war, he became president of what is now Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Missouri form 1877 to 1881, and was President of Kentucky University from 1897 to 1900. He preached at several churches of Christ in Virginia, Tennessee and Georgia. He was married to Sara Francis Hopson Cave. He is buried in an unmarked family plot to the right of Stop #11 on the cemetery tour.
