Douglas J. Dixon, age 74, of McKee Road in Irvine passed away Thursday, June 13, 2013, at the Compassionate Care Center after a long illness. He was born July 26, 1938 in Estill County and was the son of the late Roy, Sr. and Myrtle McQueen Dixon. He was a former employee of Forbes and Morris Construction and retired from Sherwin Williams. He was a United States Air Force veteran and a member of the Estill County Chapter of the Gideons. He was a member of the Irvine First Church of God where he served as a board member and a Sunday School teacher. He had lived in Estill County most of his life. He is survived by:
His wife: Elizabeth Wiseman Dixon; his daughter: Gina Johnson and husband, Mike, of Irvine; 1 sister: Carolyn Miller, of Lancaster; 4 brothers: Roy Dixon, Jr., Linville Dixon, Milton Dixon, Jeffery Dixon, all of Irvine; 2 grandchildren: Jaleyn Shawnta Baber and Brysen Cole Baber. He was preceded in death by 1 brother, Harold Dixon.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, June 16, 2 PM at the Irvine First Church of God by Bro. Todd St. John and Bro. Elder Goble. Burial will be at the South Irvine Cemetery. Friends may call between 6 and 9 PM Saturday at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home and after 1 PM Sunday at the Church.
Pallbearers: Marvin Dixon, Robert Vaughn, Joshua Dixon, Kenny Abshear, Rodney Goodwin, Norman Proctor.
