Jack was born in the now vanished community of Pecan Grove, Coryell County, Texas, to the late John Wesley Davidson and Nettie Mae White Davidson, the youngest of nine children. He grew up in Pulltight, Texas and attended school at Blackfoot. He married Christeen Bomar on March 21, 1936. They spent all of their married life farming and ranching in Mound, Texas. Jack was a highly respected man, extremely sensitive and never had a bad word to say about anyone. His word was as good as gold. Jack took great pride in his grafted pecans. He gained the reputation of raising some of the best calves and best pecans in Coryell County, winning several blue ribbons for his pecans. In his spare time, he enjoyed digging for arrowheads. He was especially proud of his only grandson, Brent Sims, and spent many hours teaching him about cows, building fences, and cleaning up after an overflow of the Leon River. Jack spent many hours of his later years in a recliner with a Texas Ranger's cap on while watching them play ball on TV. He was also a Dallas Cowboys fan and never gave up on them. Jack was a Christian and a member of the White Mound Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Christeen, in 2001; three sisters; and five brothers.
Jack is survived by his daughter, Jacqueline Davidson Holder, of Mound and Waco; grandson, Brent Sims and wife, Laura, of Gatesville; great-grandchildren, Madison Leigh Sims and Jace Brittain Sims, of Gatesville; and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
