Raymond was the first son of Clara B Keen and Leslie Robert Howell. He married Joy Viles and Had 3 daughters. He died of liver problems while in the war.


Funeral services for S_Sgt. Raymond D. Howell 27 who ided Saturday at Fitzsimmons General Hospital In Denver, were held Tues 2 p.m. in the Church of God with rev. E. L. Case officiatiang. Interment was in the Riverview cemetery with Military rites.
He was born in Norton kansas and moved with his parents to Mccook in 1928. He attended McCook High School and joined the service in 1942. He was married June 6, 1942 to Joy Ann Viles at Oberlin Ks. He left the service after the war but, re-enlisted after 2 years and was stationed in Japan during the Korean campaign. He ahd been ill for about 2 months. He is survived by his widow, three daughters, Billie Jean, Patty Ann, and Connie Rae, His parents, Mr. and Mrs Leslie Howell of Mccook, a brother Gary of Mccook and 3 sisters, Mrs. Eveln Haag, of Danbury and Wavalee and Bonna Mae of McCook.
Those from out of town for his funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Steward Wright, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Wright, Mr and mrs Earl Wright Mr and mrs Francis Hughes, Mr and mrs Ed Howell, Mrs. Mrytle Havens of Norton, Mr. and Mrs Emmett Keen of Deer Trail Colorado, Mr and Mrs Otto Tilgner of Danbury and Mr and Mrs Sal Godwin, Mr. and Mrs Jimmie Howell of Jennings andmr and mrs Pete Voss and Nellie of Almena
