Bob, or "the Moe" as he liked to be called, was born Robert David Kohler, the son of Joseph and Virginia (Gagala) Kohler. He served his country with the U.S. Army. He married Marlene, and they raised two children. He was employed with Chrysler Corporation at the Chrysler Headquarters, and was a loyal and devoted member of the UAW Local 412, Unit 10. Over his career, he was elected and served as Unit 10 Steward (for more than 20 years), as Local 412 Vice President, and as Local 412 Recording Secretary. He also served on the Local 412 Recreation Committee, and was the Chairman of the Local 412 Community Involvement Committee, giving his time and energy to the Boysville Home for Boys, taking them to Tiger baseball games and furnishing sports equipment on behalf of Local 412 for their organization. He enjoyed golfing and hanging out with all his Local 412 "guys," but spending time with his "little guy" grandsons brought him great joy. He was a charming, handsome, larger-than-life, wheeler-dealer kind of guy with good intentions which sometimes seemed to be overtaken by his weaknesses. Always the life of every party, you just couldn't help but like Moe. A resident of Chesterfield, he passed away from a massive heart attack at his home, and is survived by his former wife and life-partner, Marlene Kohler; his children, Matthew (Dawn) Kohler and Monique (Jon) Rasmussen; his grandsons, Matthew Kuhfeldt, Jake Kohler and Zachary Kohler; a sister, Connie (Gerry) Billiter; a brother, Joseph (Becky) Kohler; many nieces and nephews; and many UAW Local 412 and Unit 10 friends whom he always referred to as "my guys". He was preceded in death by his parents. A private service for his family was held, and a memorial service was held on September 16, 2013, by his "guys" at the UAW Local 412 Joint Council Meeting.
