IRVING - James Willard "Andy" Andrews died Friday, Jan. 25, 2008, of age-related complications following hip-repair surgery.

Rosary: 3 p.m. Sunday at The Remington at Valley Ranch Retirement Community, 8707 Valley Ranch Parkway West, Irving.

Memorials: A gift to your charity of choice in lieu of flowers is requested by the family.

Andy was born April 5, 1915, in Fort Worth.

A 36-year career with the United States Postal Service was followed by a number of years of delivering office supplies in the Fort Worth area.

He was a 59-year member of the National Association of Letter Carriers and a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus.

Andy and Violet had retirement years enriched by activities with family, friends, and extensive travel throughout the 48 contiguous United States. A religious man, Andy often attended daily mass. Sharp mathematical abilities contributed to enjoyment of Texas 42 and Poker played with family and friends, and in his later years he spent hours of playing Free Cell on his computer.

Andy was preceded in death by a son, James W. Andrews Jr.; and sisters, Francis Hazel Andrews and Vera Mae Coggins.

Survivors: His beloved wife of 66 years, Violet Caldwell Andrews; their children, Vera Elaine Andrews, Mary Jo Andrews Hilsinger, George Thomas Andrews, William David Andrews; daughter-in-law, Kathryn Patrick Andrews; grandson, James Patrick Andrews, all of Irving; as well as a large extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins.
