He was born in Monroe, LA and was the son of the late Murphy and Retha Bond. Luther retired from the U.S. Navy as a Master Chief with 25 years of service. He also retired from Civil Service with the Department of Defense, Director of Military Pay. He was an active member of Miles Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and was a friend to many. He will be missed.
Luther is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Carolyn E. Bond; 4 sons, Norman R. Bond and wife Joan of Vidor, TX, Michael E. Bond of Coronado, CA, Jeffery L. Bond of Tennessee and Dr. Gary D. Bond and wife Angela of Denver, CO; a sister, Patty Hinson of Tylertown, MS; 4 brothers, Roy Bond of Spartanburg, SC, Troy Bond of Rison, AR, Abe Bond of Petal, MS and Bob Bond of Mobile, AL; 10 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Richard Bond.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel by the Rev. John B. Haynes, Sr.
Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery with Military Honors.
