He was the son of Anton and Isabella (Gutowski) Rutkowski. He married Jane Dziuba on June 16, 1951 in Chicago, IL. He served in the Army-Air corps during WWII as a Staff Sergeant. He was in England and Germany, and was a POW in Germany. He was awarded the EAME Ribbon with three bronze stars, Air Medal with four oak leaf clusters, WWII Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the American Theater Ribbon. He is survived by his wife, Jane; one daughter, Marilyn (Gregory) Tazalla of IL and one son, James (Terese) of WI and four grandchildren.
