John L. Stepp, 77, husband of Joann R. Stepp, died peacefully at home on April 13, 2012. He was the son of the late Jesse and Nola Mae (Spears) Stepp and brother of the late Jayne Preece. He is survived by his wife, his daughter and son-in-law, and two grandsons, his brother and four sisters and many beloved nieces and nephews also survive him. John was a graduate of Inez High School and attended Mayo Technical College. He served in the Army Engineering Corps for four years and was stationed in Germany and France. John spent most of his work life in management working for Jeffery Manufacturing, Westinghouse Electric, and Martiki Coal. John had varied interests and hobbies. He was a devoted Christian and member of the Inez First Baptist Church and, most recently, the Versailles Church of God. He served on church boards, led music for Bible School, and enjoyed singing with his wife and a variety of quartets. He was a musician who loved to sing, play the guitar, and share music with friends. He enjoyed seeing his grandsons develop the same love of music. John was also an avid outdoorsman, whether being in the woods or on the water. This was a passion he shared with his brother, son-in-law, and grandsons. John's greatest source of joy was his family. He was blessed with a large extended family, a loving wife of 51 years, a daughter who adored him, a son-in-law who called him a friend, and two grandsons that meant the world to him. The family would like to extend a special thanks to friends for their help and prayers and to Dr. Lee Hicks and Hospice of the Bluegrass for the care they gave. Visitation 5-8 pm Monday, April 16 with Funeral 11am Tuesday, April 17 both at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home in Versailles, KY. Burial to follow in Rose Crest Cemetery in Versailles.
