Ray Leon "Leo" Aguilar, age 83, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2013, with his family by his side.
Leo was a lifelong resident of Tularosa, NM.
Leo was born to Eduardo and Maxie Aguilar.
Leo is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Stella, his children, Mary Ann Boggio of Albuquerque, NM, Doris and her husband, Vince Budris of Tijeras Canyon, NM and son, Leonard Aguilar and his wife, Teresa, of Santa Maria, CA. Leo is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Zachary Boggio and his fiancée, Maria Zinser of Albuquerque, NM, Ashley Vega and her husband, Dusty of Moriarty, NM and Jordan Budris of Albuquerque, NM, his brother, Ernesto Martinez of Los Angeles, CA and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents, Eduardo and Maxie Aguilar, brother, Eddie Aguilar, sister Esther and son-in-law, Jim Boggio.
Leo served our country in the United States Army and National Guard, receiving an honorable discharge from both. Leo worked at Holloman Air Force Base as a fireman before retiring after 27 years of service and was a recipient of the Air Force Civilian Award for Valor.
Following retirement, he chose a second career as a barber for the next 13 years. Leo served on the Planning and Zoning Committee for the Village of Tularosa and on the Advisory Committee for the Senior Citizens Center. Leo was a member of the St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church and served as Mayordomo for two terms.
A rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2013. Mass of the Resurrection will follow the rosary at 10:00 a.m. Services will be held at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church in Tularosa, NM. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Tularosa, NM. Reception will follow immediately after interment at the Parish Hall.
