Alfred Tomaro, 77, of Monroe died at 7:30 a.m. Friday at his home.
Visitation is Sunday at the Rupp Funeral Home.
He will lie in state Monday until funeral services at St. Mary Catholic Church. The Rev. Marc Gawronski will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Born Jan. 22, 1929, in Monroe, he was the son of Anthony and Carmela (Tocci) Tomaro. He married Geraldine Foley on June 16, 1949, in Monroe. She died Oct. 8, 2005.
He worked for 25 years at Dundee Cement Co., retiring as plant supervisor in 1984. He served in the Navy from 1946 to 1948.
He belonged to St. Mary Catholic Church; Monroe Lodge 884, Loyal Order of the Moose; and Monroe Post 1138, Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas A. (Mary) of Chesterfield, Mo., and James (Julie) of Bloomfield Hills; two daughters, Nancy A. (Michael) Hobbs of Newport and Dianne M. (Charles) Radford of El Dorado Hills, Calif.; a brother, Albert "Iggy" (Theresa) of Monroe; a sister, Viola (John) Ucci of Monroe, and 10 grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Michael, Francis, Joseph Volpi and Arthur and John Tomaro; and two sisters, Angeline Albano and Josephine Albano.
Memorials may be made to Mercy Memorial Hospice of Monroe or St. Mary Catholic Church.
