Floye Clayton Adkisson, age 89, was born on September 6, 1923, in Mayhill and left this life on Sunday, April 21, 2013, at home surrounded by the love of her family. Floye was preceded in death by her parents Allen and Onie Clayton, her brother, Charlie Clayton, a son, Tommy Sampson and his wife, Judy, a grandson Jeffery Yarborough, a great-great-granddaughter, Emma Gail and the love of her life, her husband, Lonnie Joseph "Jay" Adkisson. Left to love and cherish her memory are her daughters, Shari Adkisson and Erva Jo and Terry Yarborough, her grandsons, Chuck (Sandy) and Allen (Crystal) Sampson, David (Amanda) O'Daniel, Terry Joseph (Kassi) and Dennis (Grace) Yarborough, 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Allene Clayton and nieces, Marsha (Guy) McArthur and Rita Kay Jackson and their families. In the final years of her life, she was cherished and cared for on a daily basis by her great-grandchildren, Aaron, Ashley and Amber Yarborough. A loving and hard-working woman, she was proud to spend her life as a homemaker and was dedicated to her family and friends. Floye has left her mark on this world and will not be forgotten by those whose lives she touched. The family requests no flowers. A graveside memorial and inurnment of ashes is planned at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2013, at the Tularosa Cemetery with Pastor Chuck Moon officiating.
