Etta was the daughter of Frank Harmon and Lenora L. (Allen) Harmon. (Lenora married 2nd Samuel Jackson.) In Union, Oregon, in 1906, Etta married Allen P. Van Cleve. A 1922 Tacoma directory lists the couple, but on Oct 28, 1924, Etta crossed into British Columbia, listing herself as Etta Van Cleve, divorced.

She apparently resumed her maiden name, for in the 1930 Census she is again called Etta Harmon and is living with the family of her brother Loren). According to the death index of the Washington State Archives, she died at Western State Hospital in Fort Steilacoom, Pierce Co., WA. In the photo posted here, Etta is on the left, pictured with her little sister, Myrtle. (See photo caption.)

From the _Tacoma Daily Ledger_, September 6, 1935, p. 5:

"Miss Etta Harmon, 48, a resident of Tacoma for 17 years, died Wednesday at a local hospital. She was a native of Minnesota, and a member of the Order of Maccabees. She leaves three brothers, Lamott of North Dakota; F. L. [Frank Leon] of Granger; L. M. [Loren Milton] of Snohomish, and a half-brother, Louis Jackson of Tacoma. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a. m. at Piper's chapel; burial in Tacoma cemetery."

Thank you to Alice (#47083912) for the information that Etta Harmon is buried in the New Tacoma Cemetery, not the Tacoma Cemetery, as per her obituary.
