Milton Hedlund, 99, of Grand Forks, ND, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2009 at his home.
Paul Milton Hedlund was born on April 6, 1910 on the home farm in rural Alvarado, MN, the son of John Fredrick and Gurina (Iverson) Hedlund. Milton attended District 9 School, graduating from the 8th grade. After his schooling, he worked on the family farm and also helped area farmers. On November 2, 1935, he was united in marriage to Anna Pauline Smith. In the fall of 1939, Milton went to work at the power plant in Warren for six months and than for four years for the city of Warren as an electrician. In 1944, they moved to Thief River Falls, MN where he worked for Danielson Electric and in 1953 he went to work for Prior Electric. Milton and Anna moved to Grand Forks in 1956 where he worked for Local Union 1426 until his retirement in 1975. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for fifty-five years. After his retirement, he enjoyed driving tractor for Donald Nelson for many years. Anna died on May 9, 2004.
He was a member of the Alvarado Baptist Church.
Milton enjoyed watching hockey and singing. He was in many quartets including one that sang for a radio church program and he sang for many funerals. He enjoyed life, especially traveling, visiting with his many friends and most importantly, living his life for the Lord.
Left to mourn his passing is a nephew, John (Linda) Aarstad of Snohomish, WA; cousin, Joyce Holmquist of Golden Valley, MN; special loved ones, Dwight and Linda Wahlin of Manvel, ND and their children, Annie, Katie Jo and Matthew and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife Anna and sister, Gladys Aarstad.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 2:30 PM on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Alvarado Baptist Church in Alvarado, MN. VISITATION: One hour before services at the church. INTERMENT: Vega Baptist Cemetery, rural Alvarado, MN. MEMORIALS PREFERRED TO: "The Christian Worship Hour", P.O. Box 2002, Aberdeen, SD 57402-2002
