Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday at Oaklawn Cemetery for Mrs. Elma Arnold McWilliams-Cameron, 100, of Fairhope, AL formerly of Hattiesburg, MS.
Mrs. Cameron died Sunday, June 9, 2013 in Fairhope, AL.
Mrs. Cameron was a descendant of an original pioneer family in Hattiesburg. She was a lifelong resident of Hattiesburg before moving to Fairhope, AL several years ago to be near her beloved daughter. She was a Professor at William Carey University for many years and a loyal member and Bible Teacher at First Presbyterian Church of Hattiesburg. She was educated in Hattiesburg public schools; attended Mississippi State College for Women; honors graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi, receiving a B.S. and Masters Degree in elementary Education.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Inez Arnold; husbands, H.F. McWililams, Jr. and Oscar Cameron; brothers, Robert Fred, Richard, Edward, and William Arnold; and a sister, Elizabeth Davidson.
She is survived by a daughter, Melinda Mapp and husband, Louis of Fairhope, AL; a son, Hugh McWilliams and wife, Barbara of Knoxville, TN;a brother, J.D. (Pat) Arnold and wife Helen; sisters-in-law, Margaret Arnold and Margaret Buckley; five, grandchildren, Louis Mapp, Jr., Claude Mapp, Leslie Mapp Dees, Hugh (Bo) McWilliams, and Michael McWilliams; thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and many beloved nephews, nieces and other relatives.
Memorials may be made to William Carey University, Elma McWilliams Scholarship Fund, First Presbyterian Church of Hattiesburg, or charity of your choice .
Visitation will be 5:30-7:00 PM Wednesday at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home.
