GEORGE N. ELLINGER, who at one time was considered the best E-flat cornet player in the country, died at his home, No. 601 Monroe street, on Saturday afternoon. He had been ill for some time. Mr. Ellinger was born in Wurtemberg, Germany, on January 22, 1830. He came to this country as a boy and engaged in the music business in Lancaster, Pa. During the war he was captain of the band of the Eighty-seventh Pennsylvania Volunteers. Later he removed to this city. He was leader and one of the moving spirits in the old City Cornet Band and he was also one of the best players in the present First Regiment Band in this city. For several years he played second violin in the Opera House Orchestra.
