Born April 9, 1925, in New London, he was the son of Fern and Cecil Courter Wolfe. On June 4, 1948, he married Darlene Hill in Burlington.
Mr. Wolfe farmed in the Winfield and Sperry area and retired from General Electric after 23 years. He attended Wapello schools and graduated from Danville High School. He served in the Army with the 31st Infantry in World War II in the Philippines and South Pacific.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Burlington, Moose Lodge No. 579 and VFW 10102. He enjoyed country living, farm life, being outdoors, watching sports and attending his grandchildren's activities.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, John Wolfe and Gary Wolfe, both of Burlington; two daughters, Sue Wolfe and Patty Russell, both of Burlington; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Jerry Wolfe of Burlington; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters.
Visitation was from noon to 7 p.m. Sunday at Lunning Chapel in Burlington, where family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
The funeral with military rites for Mr. Wolfe will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Lunning Chapel, with the Revs. Trevor Davis, Dan Dingus and Jim Luder officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington.
