Mr. Nolte was a sales representative for Pitney-Bowes Co. from 1961 to 1962, was an insurance claims adjuster for State Farm Insurance from 1961 to 1966, was production control supervisor for International Resistance Co. from 1966 to 1968, then worked as a computer systems analyst and was promoted to senior programmer/analyst with the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant for 31 years. He retired in 2000.
He was a 1952 graduate of Maplewood High School in Maplewood, Mo., and a 1957 graduate of the University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo., with a bachelor's degree in marketing. He participated in many activities. He was a 44-year member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ, where he served as treasurer and later president of the church council and sang in the choir for 44 years, volunteered at Great River Medical Center, participated in the citywide Paint-A-Thon, the yearly CROP Walk, was a 10-year member of Bel Canto Chorale and served as its president in the 1970s.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Leann Nolte of Fairfield; one sister, Jane Louise Dreiling of Carrollton, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
The funeral for Mr. Nolte will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Luke's United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Vicki Engelmann officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
