He was a U.S. Army Veteran during WW II in the 11th Airbourne Division. He served with honor in the Philippines and Japan. He was a proud member of the V.F.W. serving longest at the Willliam B. Mawhinney Post 1593, Hawthorne, as an adjunct and commander.
Born in Passaic, he lived in Hawthorne before moving to Holiday City West in 1992.
He was predeceased by his wife Amelia (nee Selis) Van Treuren, in 1984. Survived by two sons James and Martin, both of New York City; a daughter Joyce Van Treuren of Tom's River; and good friends Pauline Marone of Toms River, and Peter Marklin of New York City.
