Douglas Wayne Rabenaldt, 79, passed away after a long illness on Wednesday, June, 12, 2013. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, June 14, 2013, at Rosewood Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 15, 2013, at Rosewood Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dan Zellmer officiating. Interment will follow at the Tivoli Cemetery.

Douglas Wayne was born in Green Lake, Texas, to the late Paul Marcos and Agnes Lundchen Rabenaldt. At age 16, he quit school to help at home and went to work in the oilfield. In 1954, he married his soul mate and love, Mary Beth Record. After two small children, in 1956 he went to work for his brother at Aloe Field as a mechanic working on aircraft. They moved to Foster Field and then to the Calhoun County Airport. When his brother was killed in an airplane accident he loaded his tools in his truck, got his A&P license and in 1969 formed Rabenaldt Aviation. He became well known thru out the Ag Aviation business. Many a time on a lonely airstrip he would start at daylight removing an engine and by night time have a new one in and have the plane ready to fly again. From October to February each year he did the yearly maintenance on about 25 planes getting them ready for the next season. Due to illness he finally gave it up in 2006.

Douglas and Mary Beth loved to travel. Probably the most enjoyed was a three-month trip out West, to Canada, Yukon, Alaska and the North Pole. He was the coordinator for five years for the Carriage Travel Club serving as Chairman for two Carriage Texas Rallies, Director for Victoria County MidCoast Sportsmans Club, member of the Woodmen of the World, and Sons of Herman.

Douglas was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kellie Diane Laging; brothers, Gilbert and Nathan; sisters, Leona Johnson, Viola Dearman, Pauline King, Thelma Crossley, and Angie Hooks.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Beth; son, David Wayne and wife, Brenda; daughters, Phyllis Gail Repka and husband, Glenn, and Lisa Diane Koliba and husband, Dale; grandaughters, Kristin Elizabeth Grahmann and husband, David, Amanda Jean Stevenson and husband, Brian, Tessa Renee Wimberly and husband, Jay, Tarra Nicole Valenta and husband, Raymond; step-granddaughter, Julia Gallenbach (Brandon Dreibrodt); grandsons, Matthew Charles Laging and wife, Tara, Shelby Lee Laging and fiancée, Chelsea Heinold, Dustin Wade Rabenaldt, and Jonathan Tyler Koliba; step- grandsons, Ryan Barnett and wife, Nicole, and Jimmy Gallenbach and wife, Laura; great-grandchildren, Reigan Lopez, Kynlee Grahmann, Sydney and Savannah Stevenson, Caden Valenta, Karston and Sawyer Wimberly, Adalyn, Blaiden and Canton Laging; step-great-grandchildren, Payton and Tyler Barnett.
