My ancestor and a baptist pastor, he was the eldest son of Stephen and Ellen Edwards. Husband of Phoebe Cook; Married October 7, 1883. To this marriage 3 children were born.

"James Newton Edwards served the church from 1917 to 1919. He was ordained at Armstrong in the Atoka church September 6, 1891. He preached in Bryan County, Oklahoma, in 1914"
