Born Vary Americus Hyler, the son of John and Ida Hyler, he had changed his name to Mack Huyler by 1930. He married Ruby Waters and they had one child, Betty Dolores Huyler Albea. Mack later married Ruth Sexton, who was his wife at the time of his death. Died in a head-on collision.

Buried next to his second wife and her brother in law, James Kerr.
